As I'm wrapping up a sixth (or is it seventh?) round of revisions on a contemporary YA novel featuring a gay male narrator/MC, I'm gearing up to begin my agent search. I'm curious if anyone knows of particular YA agents who are open to books featuring GLBT main characters? Because, honestly, in my research, it seems like very few have actually sold one. The ones I am finding are agents of current published authors who have written YA novels featuring gay characters and it's just not very many to query.

I know, I know. I shouldn't make my focus so narrow (and I'm not going to) but some tidbit (a quote from an interview? showing previous support? a friend's agent? your agent?) would be great. For example, I remember reading in the comments of an article about the debacle back in September, an agent named Diana Fox chiming in with support for GLBT YA books.

Thank you!
-B.

Hmm, good question. I actually have no idea, but I bet some people on Twitter would know...I'll ask them. Smiley

If you want to Private Message me, B, I'd be happy to talk to you about my experiences successfully querying a MS with a LGBT MC.

Hey B, we got some great responses on Twitter to your question. If you have a Twitter, I'd be happy to send you the @'s of some agents open to Gay YA. If you don't have a twitter, I'll send you their names. Smiley
